Prove your species' ingenuity through a deep and intricate combat system where anything (from individual components on ships to the stars themselves) is a target of opportunity.
Structure
The tournament consists of two phases:
- Group Stage
The participating players will be divided as best as possible into groups of four, maximum five players per group. The group stage mode is round robin. Every player has to fight everyone in his own group. Furthermore, each matchup consists of a single battle (BO1) between the two competitors. By winning one match against his opponent, the player gains three points for his group ranking. All participating players proceed to the playoffs. - Playoffs
The playoffs are the final stage of the tournament. Each player will get a predefined spot in the tournament tree, depending on the ranking he achieved in the groups. Now all players face their opponents in a single elimination with best of three matches (BO3). That means each player has to win two out of maximum three battles against his opponent to proceed into the next round, where he is going to face the winner of another pairing. In case of losing one playoff round, the player has to fight against another loser.
Rounds
Each week includes two round cycles (Sunday to Tuesday, Wednesday to Saturday) so each round must be played within 3 or 4 days depending on which cycle the round is in. This time contains arranging the match date and finally fighting the battles.
- Group Stage
Players are allowed to postpone their match into another round cycle of the group stage by both agreeing to a fixed date in the schedule thread. - Playoffs
Players are allowed to split up the third match of the best of three matches to another date in the round cycle. If both players are not able to fight the third battle after a 1-1, the winner will be chosen by a coin flip. The first two battles have to be fought consecutively on the same day unless there are technical problems. If only one battle is fought by the end of the round cycle, both players gain a loss (unless one is determined to be stalling and is given a forfeit).
Results
After each round ends, the winner is required to post a screen shot (jpg) of the last turn into the results thread, otherwise both players receive a loss.
Additional Rules
- Matches have to be played on official servers with Default rules.
- If one player doesn't respond in the scheduled 3-4 days, the other player gains a win.
- Leaving a match that has started and is not finished is considered a defeat (unless the opponent is willing to replay the match). If someone disconnects and is not yet terminated, the opponent is required to wait until he reconnects or is terminated.
- If in Playoffs both players are not able to fight the third battle after a 1-1, the winner will be chosen by a coin flip.
- If only one battle is fought in the BO3 by the end of the round cycle, both players gain a loss (unless one is determined to be stalling and is given a forfeit).
- If there is no valid result after the round cycle ends, both players will get a loss (unless one is determined to be stalling and is given a forfeit).
- Proxy Studios members reserve the right to disqualify players.
- These rules may be changed or expanded at any point.
