Doesn't handicaps affect the AI?

Postby Mimsy on 13 Jan 2011, 21:41

As someone who routinely gets smashed by the AI, I tried to raise the AI's handicap in order to enforce something resembling an "Easy Mode". However, it still seems the AI outproduces me, according to the endgame Statistics-screen. This may of course be because the AI simply holds more cities without me knowing - again, I suck - but I was wondering if the handicaps simply does not affect the AI, at least in the demo?

By the way; another question about the handicaps: When I set a handicap to for example "10%", does that mean I decrease the income to 10% of the original income, or that I decrease it by 10%? Big difference.

Anyways; hats off to your AI department. I don't think I've been so legitimately challenged by an AI for some time. Unless the AI cheats, of course, but I get the impression that it doesn't?

Hey, as far as I know the handicap should work fine on the AI. You can check how many cities the AI is holding by looking at the Players panel at the top right.

The handicap % is decrease by.

What you could also try is allying with an AI vs 2 AI, that way you can see how one plays or just watch two AIs battle each other.

Thanks and I can confirm it does not cheat. :)

And I thought I was the only one who was being raped by the AI.
I was to ashamed to admit it, until now.

I have to go cry in a corner now, excuse me.
