SteamStore?

Postby Matrix101 on 14 Oct 2010, 22:11

First congratulations for your game.

I discovered it a few days ago thanks to an article on rps: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/10/11/conquest-divide-and-conquer-released/.
Visual and interface are very nice and polished. I like that. Gameplay mechanisms seem both simple and yet able to generate interesting situations without having to deal with 100+ types of units and associated encyclopedia. ;-)
And bots look pleasant.
Plus I've tried my first online play yesterday and got beaten. Cool. :)

Now... my question: Do you plan to propose that game on Steam?
If yes when? :)
If no... :( well too bad 'cause this could offer you some great visibility (even if temporary).

If yes, will you allow to register the game on Steam if I buy it here???

Thanks.

Any news regarding your 'Steam' policy? Have you take time to think about it? Or take some decisions regarding that?

Btw I kick bots a** pretty easily now so a good players base (I mean not tiny like it seems to be now) plus some community tools would really be a buying factor, so I believe Steam visibility could help you for that... No?

Steam with a free weekend to offer test for the 30 million steam users (! ;) might really boost things don't you think?
Just to help...

We agree, and we already tried applying to Steam a while ago, but they only accept "proven" titles. See http://blog.magrathean.ca/2009/12/valve ... etter.html.

Dave Taylor wrote:Braid also got rejected at first. All the author had to do was ship it on console and make a lot of money, and then suddenly Steam accepted it.

From what I can tell, you need either a team with a hit-making track record or a game that's already a hit, pretty much what the retail publishers want. That'll probably do the trick for Steam.

Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

Doh... I've read your blog link. Not cool. :-(
That's really too bad because I think your game really has the needed qualities to easily be a more than average Indie game on steam.
I've seen quite some crap going out on Steam Indie catalog in the past months, so that doesn't look fair to refuse your game which is definitely not crap. :)

Could it be a price tag issue? Maybe their expecting more for a 15$ title, don't know? But based on their FAQ money talks come after their decision so it's probably not that.

Well I hope they'll change their mind and may accept a next request, and I wish you to find a way to increase the players base, which seems to be the main issue today unfortunately.
