The card is indeed fresh. So fresh that I still have the "Unsupported hardware" at the right bottom corner of my screen because Catalyst 10.12 is not playing well with it. However the card seems to be doing fine for desktop purposes. I've built the machine for programming mostly and I'm not really big gamer -- I haven't tried anything comparably demanding. Penumbra Overture is doing bad (indescribable glitches), but SteelStorm Ep. 1 is running flawlessly on maximum details. I wasn't expecting Conqest to be *that* high-3D game now as I was playing it something like 2 years ago on old notebootk and it was running fine. I will give you whatever details I can, but chances are high that it's just an ATI attitude for Linux users. :)

I'm afraid it seg faults on the first shader that comes up, which means something bigger is wrong and there is basically nothing you can do on your end (apart from always having the latest drivers installed).

However, I'm currently optimizing and upgrading our graphics engine to be ready for OpenGL 4.0. This should only take one or two more days, then a new Conquest release will be imminent. Once this is out I'll have a closer look at this problem again, and maybe it will even work with the new version right away.
